Tyson was famous for his war of words and intimidation before his fights. The ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ often found himself in the center of a verbal battle. He has now tried to get this started in the lightweight division.

Teofimo Lopez recently joined Tyson on an episode of ‘Hotboxin with Mike Tyson’. The official social media handle of the podcast has now shared a snippet of what went down. In the video, ‘Iron Mike’ asked Lopez who he would like to fight next.

When Lopez listed out the lightweight contenders, Tyson asked someone behind the camera, “you have these guys’ numbers, [that] he’s talking about…?”

He then added, “I want to call some of them.”

Mike Tyson has instigated a verbal battle before

This is not the first time the former champion has tried to do this. In his previous episode, Tyson was even successful with his efforts and got Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis to talk on Facetime.

It was when all the rumors hinted at a potential Davis-Garcia match-up, and the pair did not disappoint as they engaged in a fiery feud. However, the fight between the two fell through, but the podcast grew in popularity since the clip went viral.

Tyson has previously stated his disapproval of the behavior of modern fighters and their tendency to avoid fights. Moreover, Lopez has even admitted that it was Tyson who convinced him to fight Haney. Ultimately, ‘The Takeover’ did end up face-timing ‘The Dream’ and told him he would be his next knockout victim. So maybe Tyson’s efforts were successful after all.

However, he was unsuccessful in his first effort since despite Garcia and Davis engaging in a war of words, ‘KingRy’ chose to fight Manny Pacquiao instead. Maybe Mike Tyson needs to find more effective ways of instigating feuds between fighters.
