Former world champions-Roy Jones Jr. and Mike Tyson are finally meeting each other inside the ring on November 28, materializing a matchup that has been relevant since the early ’90s in the boxing world.

Being two of the most renowned elites, Tyson and Jones have always been compared with each other in terms of skill set. However, they hail from different weight classes and although Roy has fought in the heavyweight unit; he has never been a natural heavyweight. Thus, ‘Iron’ and ‘Captain Hook’ couldn’t face each other in their prime.

While Mike Tyson retired after his loss against Kevin McBride in 2005, Roy Jones continued his journey till 2018. That said, they are back to the ring for their upcoming fight, but how would the fight have looked in the ’90s?

When former boxer Derrick James was asked to give his opinion,  he hailed Roy as the most athletic boxer and champion in the sport. He also hailed Tyson’s venomous power, but seemed more on Roy’s corner in a recent interview.

Roy Jones Jr. and Mike Tyson will always be the elites

James recently connected with the Fight Hub tv to shed light on the Tyson vs Jones fight. As per him, Roy’s athleticism was his strength and could have played a huge factor in the fight.

Talking about it, he said, “I think that would have been an interesting fight. Mike Tyson would always be treacherous and very dangerous right. But Roy Jones was probably the most athletic boxer of all-time, athletic champion of all time.

James added, “His athleticism was just his super strength. I mean, when the athleticism left him, that’s when the guys started catching up against him. There has never been a fighter in the history as athletic and use it to the advantage, now another fighter is very athletic is Terence Crawford.” Roy’s athleticism was unmatched by anybody else, we have probably seen.”

Meanwhile, the fight is happening with Roy and Tyson hitting their dotage. However, fight fans are still excited about it. No wonder we are in for the biggest event of this year.
