Mikey Garcia Claims Manny Pacquiao Will Fight Once More This Year

On August 21, boxing’s biggest icon, Manny Pacquiao, will make his highly anticipated return to the ring against Yordenis Ugas. Earlier, he was all set to fight the WBC and IBF welterweight champ, Errol Spence Jr. But as the latter suffered a retinal eye tear, he had to withdraw from this sublime contest. Subsequently, as the WBA welterweight super champ came to the rescue, the event will go ahead per schedule.

As fans were eager to see ‘Pacman’ fighting again, and it was vital for someone to take this fight on short notice. ’54 Milagros’ did just that. Now, Pacquiao will fight in 2021, but fans are already curious about a potential second fight this year.

Recently, Mikey Garcia spoke exclusively to FightHype and asserted on ‘Pacman’ taking one more fight this year. He said, “I’ve heard from different people that he was thinking of having two fights this year and retiring.”

“I heard he wanted to do two fights this year. Being that timing for the matchups that he’s fighting in August. Who knows if he’s able to squeeze in another fight before the end of the year,” he said.

Manny Pacquiao took his last fight in 2019 against Keith Thurman and post that he took a long layoff. But now, he’s all charged up to make his return and his recent training videos are proof of his excitement to come back.

Also, if Pacquiao secures an easy win on August 21, then he might be motivated to make a quick turnaround and re-enter the ring in 2021.

The 42-year-old has enjoyed a gratifying career in the sport for almost three decades. Also, fans absolutely love him for what he brings to the ring.

However, as age is a vital factor, ‘Pacman’ should take the same into consideration before taking up his next bout. Despite this, the probabilities of him fighting once again depend majorly on his fight against Ugas.
