The veteran pugilist, Mikey Garcia, has battled some of the most exemplary names in the welterweight roster. He was a former WBC and the IBF world champion who lost his straps to ‘The Truth’ Errol Spence Jr. in 2019. Despite that loss, Garcia has his eyes set on the bigger prize and wants to compete against all-time great, Manny Pacquiao.

In an interview with Fight Hype, Garcia called out the Filippino Senator for a 12-round war.
He said, “If Manny’s available, and he wants it to get in the ring with a real fighter, and have a real challenge and a real fight for the fans and everybody, then I’m here.”

“There was a possible conversation of a fight between Manny and me, sometime in the future, and well here is, we are in the future now. So the time is now,” Garcia added.
The Ventura native has dreamt of fighting Manny Pacquiao for a substantial time. He believes the matchup between him and ‘Pacman’ is extremely captivating, which can lure the fans to a great extent. Moreover, he feels he’s just the ideal contender to fight the legend who’s in the twilight of his career.

Manny Pacquiao vs Mikey Garcia, can it happen in 2021?
Manny Pacquiao didn’t compete for the whole of 2020. He is in talks to stage a fight with internet sensation Ryan Garcia for the latter half of this year. If he hangs his gloves post this fight, then Mikey Garcia will have to move on and look for another opponent.
But if ‘Pacman’ stays around for a while, then a fight with former welterweight champ might undeniably be on the cards.
However, there’s no assurance yet from Pacman’s promotional team as to his 2021 return, but a news piece surrounding the same can get rolled out in a few days.
The year 2021 already has some charismatic fights lined up, and the addition of Manny Pacquiao vs Mikey Garcia will just add up to the decorated year. The 33-year-old will look to hear from Pacquiao’s corner about the callout he made.
