Undefeated WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford has come through a tough phase to reach where he is at today. Surrounded by all the fame, riches, and glory, Crawford didn’t have it easy growing up. He had a tough childhood and boxing was his gateway to all his dreams. Crawford will face a new challenge in the form of Shawn Porter on November 20. Former champion Porter has all the necessary tools at his disposal to land a title win. But Crawford isn’t going to roll out the carpet for him.

Having seen a tough childhood and a flawless career so far, ‘Bud’ seems prepared for every adversary. While we stand a few days away from Porter vs Crawford, the WBO champion’s mother sat with Top Rank and recalled Crawford’s tough days. She also recalled how Crawford had promised to become a millionaire as a child.

Debra Crawford said, “I was hard on him, I’m the mama and y’all gonna follow by my rules or y’all can get out.”

She continued, “But Bud was a good kid, he got a good heart. He worked hard. He would get up early in the morning. I would be like where are you going? He was young. He could bleed out there, he out there running, running in the snow just running. And he used to always say ‘Mom I’mma be a millionaire.’”

Per reports, 34-year-old Terence Crawford has a net worth of $8 million. He is signed under Bob Arum’s Top Rank Promotions and is a P4P great. Well, all of these things will be at stake when he enters the ring against Shawn Porter.

Terence Crawford has always beaten the odds

In a career of over a decade, Crawford has defeated several A-listers. He has managed to beat all his opponents, amassing 28 KOs in all of his 37 wins. On the other hand, Shawn Porter is 31-3 and has lost to Kell Brook in the past.

Brook was Crawford’s last opponent, who got TKOed by ‘Bud’ in 2020. So, numbers don’t favor Shawn Porter; it doesn’t seem like he’s superior to Crawford. But given boxing’s unpredictability, anything can happen and both fighters are expected to bring their best versions to the fight.
