Gervonta Davis vs Naoya Inoue has been teased for the longest time. However, Inoue never truly considered the possibility of him facing ‘Tank,’ until now. In a recent turn of events, the undefeated boxer weighed in on the potential match-up. His comments come after Floyd Mayweather Jr., demanded the potential fight be set in the United States of America.

Mayweather was adamant about having random doping tests to ensure a level playing field. This was in part led by a suspicion that the Japanese super bantamweight fighter may have used banned substances to further his career. But amidst all this, Inoue’s recent comments may put all these aspirations and speculations to rest. What does he have to suggest? Let’s find out.

Does Naoya Inoue foresee himself fighting Davis?

The Japanese professional boxer could not have been more explicit in disregarding a fight with Davis. In an interview, he conveyed that a bout between them is not “possible,” referring to the significant weight disparity between the two. In addition, he also revealed his respect for the Baltimore native. While denying any chance of a potential fight, the champion stated that he would like to see Davis placed higher on the pound-for-pound list. Reflecting on the same, he stated, “I don’t think it’s possible [to fight him], it’s more hype that fans are putting together… I think of him very highly. If he’s on the lower part of the pound-for-pound list, I think he should be up a little bit further than where he is now.”

It is safe to say that their bout may not be in the cards anytime soon, as Inoue considers the weight disparity problematic. However, if the bout were to ever take place, let’s see how Rolly Romero thinks it would play out.

Inoue vs Davis; Rolly Romero makes his prediction

Romero has fought Davis in the past and was defeated. The two are not fond of each other. Yet, Romero fancies the chances of his foe against Inoue and, with conviction, predicts a stoppage victory. In an interview, He stated, “Inoue vs. Tank? Tank by murder. You know Inoue is a good fighter and all, you know, he is very talented. I can’t follow him. He doesn’t speak English.”

Whether or not this bout takes place, one thing is clear, it has ignited some interest. Until the next revelation, we are curious to know what you make of Inoue’s aforementioned comments. Share with us your thoughts and opinions in the comments below.
