Former female middleweight champion Laila Ali has been a great ambassador for the sport of boxing even after being retired from the sport for over a decade. The daughter of boxing legend Muhammad Ali, not only speaks out on issues related to the sport but social issues outside of it as well.

Moreover, this was perfectly showcased after she shared a heartfelt message for her audience as well. Ali, spoke about the issue of ‘human trafficking’ as the holiday season approached and also had a request for her fans.

Laila Ali steps up against human trafficking

In an Instagram post, the former champ stated that no matter what the time of the year it was, everyone deserved a safe space to stay. However, she added that this could not be possible until the issue of human trafficking has been solved in our society.

“No matter what time of the year everyone deserves a safe space free of violence and exploitation. Now airports are a common place for human trafficking which happens every single day in communities across the country” she said.

Moreover, she requested the people traveling this holiday season to stay aware of their surroundings. She also went on to give out a helpline number for those who might be victims of harsh situations.

“Now if you’re traveling this holiday season please be alert and stay aware of your surroundings. Signs of trafficking include forced coercion or deception. Now if you’re being trafficked please text be free to 233733 or call 888 373-7888.” she added.

This was certainly a great step by ‘She Bee Stingin’ who is very vocal about issues like these. In addition, the post also included charities where people could donate to these causes.

The former middleweight champ has pledged her loyalty to many causes affecting the world. This is why she has contributed to many organizations fighting diseases, racial inequality, and other social issues. Some of these include the American Diabetes Association, A Place Called Home, and the Women’s Sports Foundation.

Like her father, Laila has also made her impact outside of the sport in a very significant manner. Moreover, as the years pass by, she will only get more involved in promoting these causes and cementing her legacy outside the sport.
