Errol Spence Jr. finds positives in the car accident he met with last year. Primarily, he is thankful that the accident did not end his boxing career. He also said that it was a wake-up call for him at a time when he wasn’t completely focused.

“I feel like my car accident was the wake-up call from God, telling me to really focus and, you know, bite down and re-focus on what’s going on,” Spence said in an interview on Instagram Live as per Boxingscene.com. “And I feel like I wasn’t as focused as I am now. It’s kind of like from the Kell Brook fight or before that, like how focused I am now. I feel like I’m really trying to put my all into it because I’ve got a lot of stuff to prove people wrong.”

Spence has been out of boxing action since his accident in Dallas. He was ejected out of his Ferrari that flipped multiple times. Dallas Police later charged him with DWI. After the disastrous incident, many believed his boxing career could be over. But Spence believes he is still the same and wants to prove it.

“You know, it’s a lot of things that people been saying on YouTube. Or, ‘Is he still gonna be the same? Can he fight the same? You know, is his reflexes still gonna be the same?’ So, I’ve still got a lot to prove in the ring, and to prove to other people that, you know, I’m still the same Errol Spence,” he said.

“I would love to fight Pacquiao, he’s a future legend, he’s a Hall of Famer, he’s a guy I would love to fight. He has a belt, too, I would love to get that belt.”

“My goal is to be undisputed welterweight champion of the world, so I have to fight [Pacquiao] to get one of those belts, unless he vacates or something like that, or somebody else beats him. It’s a fight I would love to have,” Spence said.
