In the bustling world of heavyweight boxing, few events rattle the community like the tragic fall of a rising star. On April 5, 2024, in a Miami arena, the spotlight was on Ardi Ndembo, an undefeated fighter from Congo, and his opponent, Nestor Santana. The match, part of the Team Combat League, promised fierce competition. But fate had different plans.
Within the first round, the unthinkable happened. Ndembo suffered a knockout so severe it left him incapacitated on the canvas for over 10 minutes. Rushed to the hospital, he was soon placed in a medically induced coma, where he fought on for more than 20 days until his tragic passing. His promotion posted on X, “We at Viva Promotions mourn the loss of Ardi Ndembo, a talented Congolese boxer who tragically passed away after a knockout in a Team Combat League match on April 5. He remained in an induced coma until his untimely death. RIP Ardi Ndembo!” He is now survived by his wife and two children.
