‘The Monster’ Andrew Moloney was left disheartened after his bout was a declared a ‘no contest’ against Joshua Franco. The two confronted each other for the second time for the WBA Super-Flyweight title. The fight was stopped at the conclusion of round 2. The match officials took nearly 26 mins to declare the bout as a no contest.

At the end of round 2, Franco had a swollen right-eye. After examining, the referees & match officials called off the fight, suspecting a head-butt in round 1.

However, ‘the Monster’ believes his jabs predominantly caused damage to Franco’s right eye.

Joe Rogan took to twitter in frustration and wrote, “My god did this man get robbed. One of the worst calls ever. What is the point of instant replay when this can happen?”

Similarly, Ariel Helwani and many others believed Moloney got robbed. ‘The Monster’ started off extremely well & used his left jab as a weapon to topple Franco. Many assume Moloney could have reclaimed the Super-Flyweight title if the bout wouldn’t stop.

Franco emerged victorious in his first meet with ‘The Monster’. Judges scored that contest as 115-112, 114-113 & 114-113 in Franco’s favor. Moloney got knocked down in the 12th round, which made a steep difference in the results.

But in their subsidiary fight last night, Moloney looked sharp with his jabs and body shots.Moloney won both the rounds with 20-18 on judges’ scorecards.

‘The Monster’ controlled the fight by constantly pressuring the champion and used a couple of big right hands to pin him down.

In a post fight interview with Top Rank Boxing, Moloney said, ”I seen it, I hit him with a jab in the first round and seen a little lump and I went straight after him hitting 50 times. Not the head-butt, there’s no head-butt.”

The Combat Sports community collectively feels Molony looked sharp to reclaim his title, and the decision didn’t go in his favor. He controlled the fight to his favor and landed blistering strikes.
