The former 2x NBA champion and kingpin, Lamar Odom, will enter the boxing ring later this year. He has signed a deal with Celebrity Boxing and is aligned for a fight already on June 12. The fight against a yet to be named opponent will take place at Showboat Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

However, he’s not the only NBA star to step inside the ring. A couple of months back, another NBA sensation, Nate Robinson touched gloves with the American YouTuber and boxer, Jake Paul.

‘The Problem Child’ staggered Robinson as he landed a vicious KO in just the second round of the fight.

Despite not having an opponent, Odom has already started spending quality training hours in the gym. At 41, he resembles a 20-year-old, who is hungry to make a mark in the boxing world.

‘Lam Lam’ retired from basketball in 2014 but attempted a comeback later. He was also a part of Ice Cube’s Big3 league. Now, he looks primed to be a boxer and will hope to have a reasonable amount of success.

Celebrities from other sports putting on boxing gloves contributes immensely to the sport. Not just they hook in the existing boxing fans, but also attract a mammoth fanbase from their sport.

Can Lamar Odom enjoy a similar run like NBA in boxing?

‘Lam Lam’ played in NBA for more than a decade. He is known for contributing substantially well to the Lakers team, with whom he played for seven seasons. Odom helped the team win championships in 2009 and 2010. He is a staunch athlete who eyes one target at a time and tries to accomplish it.

With his eyes completely on boxing now, it’s undeniable that Odom won’t enjoy a healthy run in this sport too.

It will be intriguing enough to see who will fight on June 12. The 41-year-old will put all of his hard work to test and look to make a statement by crucifying his opponent and avoiding what happened to Nate Robinson.
