The 30-year-old American boxer has been undefeated inside the ring. She boasts of a pro record of 13-0. In those 13 victories, Mikaela Mayer has notched five wins via knockout and the rest of them came via unanimous decision. As she staged another impressive victory against Helen Joseph this week, a title shot is shortly on her way.

The official Twitter handle of Top Rank boxing revealed a video where Bob Arum and Mayer are conversing post-fight. While the conversation between them is barely audible, the caption of the social media post showcased the core motive of the entire interaction. “Next One’s for the title,” stated the Twitter handle.

However, the title tale doesn’t appear to be a one-way ride for Mayer. The super featherweight division has eminent world champions. South Korea’s Hyun Mi Choi holds the WBA title, and England’s Terri Harper boasts of the WBC title.

Meanwhile, French boxer Maiva Hamadouche and the Polish Ewa Brodnicka hold the IBF and WBO super featherweight straps, respectively. Thus, a lot of boxing fans believe that Mikaela hasn’t faced anyone of equal caliber in recent times. And so, an urgent title shot might bring the best out of her.

Fans react to Mayer’s title shot

By the looks of it, fans are equally excited to see Mayer vie for a title shot. After her sensational victory, several fans took to Twitter and applauded her. Some celebrated her undefeated pro record, while others gave their thoughts on the title shot.
