Lawrence Okolie is one of the most prominent cruiserweights in the sport today. The former champion managed to have an undefeated boxing record, but that happened to change last night. Okolie lost his fight against Chris Billam Smith via majority decision. There is no doubt that many fans were not expecting this fight result. And many fans had their money on the 30-year-old professional boxer. But this fight proved to be memorable for Smith as he was able to clinch the title away from Okolie in front of 15,000 fans in his hometown. However, it seems like this defeat has stirred another discussion about Okolie’s future in the division.

Recently, Okolie’s promoter caused a stir when he hinted at the boxer’s potential move to the heavyweight division after his first-ever professional loss. And it seems like a boxing manager has strong thoughts about this potential move.

Sam Jones, the co-founder of ‘S-Jam Boxing’, took to Twitter to react to Ben Shalom, who is the manager of Okolie, making remarks about a potential move for the boxer to the heavyweight division. And it seems like Jones is not thrilled by the notion of the former cruiserweight champion making a move to the heavyweight division.

Jones shared the interview of Shalom hinting towards the big move. Shalom talked about how Okolie being a “big guy” may find it difficult to fight the smaller guys in the cruiserweight division. Reacting to these remarks, “That’s what he’d like him to do, so there is absolutely no risk of him getting his belt back off the ticket seller,” Jones wrote.

Jones did not stop at that and made a bold claim about Okolie. According to Jones, It is very likely that the 30-year-old activates his rematch clause against Chris. It should be noted that Okolie is yet to announce what’s next for him. Notably, not long ago, Okolie parted ways with Eddie Hearn.
