“Nobody Has Ever Done That to Me in Sparring or Anything”- Kell Brook Makes a Statement After a Devastating Loss to Terence Crawford

Terence Crawford proved once again why he is not only one of the best welterweight fighters in the world, but also one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the sport. ‘Bud’ took just four-rounds to stop a worth adversary in Kell Brook. 

The fight was touted to be an extremely interesting and closely fought battle between two of the best at welterweight. Most fans and pundits would not have imagined the fight to have ended as soon as it did. Crawford, however, did what he does better than almost anyone- make world-class fighters look like day one amateurs.

Kell Brook plays matchmaker; suggests Errol Spence Jr should be next 

In the post-fight interview, when asked about his own performance, Brook was brutally honest. He said, “The better man won tonight. Nobody’s ever done that to me in sparring or anything. I think that [Errol Spence] is the fight to make. Even though he’s stopped me, I can’t say, ‘He would do that to Spence.’ It’s a fight everybody needs to see”

During the fight, Brook started off well and applied pressure early on. He landed a total 26 total punches with an accuracy of 24%. ‘Special K’ arguably had his best round in round two when he was able to land the jab early and often.

However, as the fight wore on, Crawford switched to the southpaw stance and picked Brook apart. The power punches made the difference as ‘Bud’ landed 9 out of 11 punches thrown in the fourth before the referee stepped in and stopped the fight. 

Errol Spence Jr will take on Danny Garcia next month defending his IBF and WBC welterweight titles. A fight between Spence Jr and Terence Crawford is what most fans are clamoring to see next.

Promoter Bob Arum has stated that Crawford can take on both Garcia and Spence Jr on the same night. Given he fought for only four rounds tonight, ‘Bud’ will be in a good position for a quick turnaround and in a good position to become the unified welterweight champion of boxing.
