According to the British heavyweight, despite the achievements in their respective sports, Mayweather and Williams, for some reason, don’t get the respect they deserve.
Joshua took to his official Twitter account and wrote, “I think Floyd Mayweather & Serena Williams do not get the credit they deserve~Legends in their respective sports…”
Apparently, he made this tweet in 2017 when ‘Money’ defeated one of the greatest UFC stars and former champion Conor McGregor in a highly anticipated boxing crossover match.

Joshua and Mayweather have always been on good terms with each other. The Britisher also backed ‘TBE’ during his lead-up to the ‘money fight’ with McGregor. They have always talked highly about each other in interviews and even trained together frequently.
Their relationship might have been the reason Joshua spoke up for Mayweather. He compared Williams and Mayweather because of their greatness in their respective sports. Later, in another tweet, AJ shared the same opinion about British football star Wayne Rooney.
The two-time unified world heavyweight champion is now preparing for his much-anticipated rematch with Ukraine boxer Oleksandr Usyk in August 2022. ‘AJ’ will look to reclaim his titles and avenge his loss, as this match will define his career.
Meanwhile, Joshua is not the only one making a comeback this year

Despite retiring from boxing five years ago with a 50-0 record, the 45-year-old is still active and competes in exhibition matches. ‘Money’ will now clash against mixed martial artist Mikuru Asakura in Japan under the RIZIN promotion in September.
