For the second time in his career, Gervonta Davis failed to stop his opponent in-ring. ‘Tank’ successfully retained his WBA 135 lbs title, but it came after a hard-fought 12-round war with Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz, via decision. While Davis did enough to see his hands raised, Cruz also delivered a commendable performance.

Despite his shortcomings in height, ‘Pitbull’ seemed unfazed by Davis’ KO-power. Moreover, Cruz walked in and traded haymakers with Davis. While it clearly made him look good, the same cannot be said for Gervonta Davis. At least that’s what his contemporaries believe.

Newly crowned unified lightweight champion George Kambosos Jr. saw the fight live from the Staples Center. He wasn’t very impressed by Davis’ performance and shared his raw opinion in a chat with Fight Hub Tv.

When asked about a potential scrap between him and ‘Tank,’ Kambosos Jr. said, “It is what it is you know. Nothing too exciting and the world saw it. You know whatever the world thinks, but all the best to whatever they do next. That fight (Kambosos Jr. vs Davis) might be there. We will see.”

Well, Kambosos Jr, isn’t the only lightweight to throw shades at Davis. Former WBC Interim lightweight champion Ryan Garcia also falls on the same list. Currently on a long hiatus, ‘KingRy’ shared his take on the fight on social media and ridiculed Davis’ selection of the opponent.

Garcia has already begun feuding with Gervonta Davis, pushing himself for a shot at the WBA lightweight belt. However, it’s time for Davis to celebrate a big win and then map out his next journey.

Will Gervonta Davis continue his dominance in the lightweight division?

26-0 as a pro, Davis is a three-division champion and can choose his future activities at will. From  130 lbs-140 lbs, he can pick his next opponent from a pool full of big names. He had hinted at the same during the post-fight interview of his recent appearance. However, the lightweight division may offer him the best options.

Ryan Garcia and George Kambosos Jr. don’t mind facing ‘Tank’. Meanwhile, several other hungry contenders are lurking over the title race. So, Davis can bag big paydays and tough fights by remaining in the lightweight journey. However, his mentor Floyd Mayweather will have a role in deciding what’s next for ‘Tank’.
