Omaha Police Department documents acquired by TMZ Sports reveal that on his birthday, the Omaha native was pulled over by local authorities for reckless driving at a high rate of speed. Terence Crawford has a court date

According to the documents, the guns being drawn were never mentioned in the report. Instead, the report only states that a traffic stop was conducted and “Crawford was cited and released for reckless driving.” The boxer himself has yet to release a statement regarding his arrest, but after the clip of Crawford’s arrest went viral, it set some things in motion.

Omaha Mayor John Ewing, who sang praises of Crawford for his achievement during the parade in Omaha, along with Police Chief Todd Schmaderer, revealed that they will launch an internal investigation into the matter. “We will gather all the facts and be transparent with the public about our findings,” Ewing’s statement said.

“Understand that my heart dropped in learning of this end to an otherwise wonderful day and evening celebrating our city’s world boxing champion.” Regardless, the police document states that Terence Crawford must appear in court in December to address the citation. But the question is, who did the firearm belong to?

‘Bud’ Crawford’s security head recalls arrest

The gun that has been mentioned belonged to Crawford’s security head, Qasim Shabazz, who was legally allowed to carry the firearm. He had an interesting account of how things went down. “Man, I thought we were getting ready to lose our lives,” Shabazz told First Alert 6. He said officers drew their weapons after claiming to see a firearm, a moment he described as terrifying.

Shabazz, who was in the car with Crawford, insists the officers never saw his legally owned firearm. “They didn’t even see the firearm on me because of the way I was positioned inside the vehicle,” he said. To him, the response was unnecessary. “There was no reason to had drawn guns on us… if you run into a rogue police officer who wants to escalate, he is going to escalate.”

From the looks of things, there’s a lot more to be uncovered from Terence Crawford’s encounter with the police on the day of his birthday. What do you make of the discrepancy? Is there something fishy going on?
