Ruiz went on to work on shedding his weight and improving his conditioning under the watchful eye of his trainer, Eddy Reynoso. He lost an impressive 27 lbs (1 st 13 lbs) ahead of his showdown with Chris Arreola.
Fans react to Ruiz’s improved physique
Boxing fans were intrigued to see Ruiz’s physique ahead of his bout with Ortiz. Moreover, many fans took to social media to share their thoughts on Ruiz’s physique update.
Every Ruiz fight theres a post about how skinny he looks. Then on fight night he shows up with the same fat belly and swinging titties.
A few users pointed out that Ruiz posts similar photographs ahead of fights. But, ends up coming in much heavier.
That was a fake photoshopped picture going around before the AJ rematch. This is the real deal, can’t photoshop a video (i don’t think you can anyway?!), he’s definitely lost a lot of weight.
However, user @Psncoins1 clarified their statement by mentioning that Ruiz’s picture ahead of the Joshua rematch was photoshopped. And that it was much harder to edit a video.
Controversial opinion but I think “fat Andy” is better. 🤷♂️
Only problem is he was fighting better when he was like Butterbean. skinny ruiz hasn’t been the same. But hey his health is probably better now
I’m a fan of Andy and like him when he was heavier. He hit harder and was harder to move. I don’t know about this but I hope he actually hits harder now too.
Meanwhile, a few users felt mentioned that Ruiz was a better fighter when he was heavier. In fact, user @DanielJBardsley even claimed that he liked ‘fat Andy’ better.
Additionally, user @dangggggggggg stated that Ruiz used to hit harder when he was heavier.
On the other hand, user @spartak_sloths added that Ruiz is a danger to fellow heavyweights when he is in shape.
Luis Ortiz is 43 years old, he is still a very dangerous fighter and can mess up 95% of his much younger opponents.
Similarly, user @SlickWillie64 stated that at the age of 43, Ruiz could demolish 95% of his younger opponents.
