The WBC, Lineal, and Ring Magazine titleholder Tyson Fury recently talked about the time he sparred with the current WBC Silver and WBO International heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois in an interview with BT Sport.

Upon asking how did he end up sparring a young Dubois, Fury said,Yeah I come down to the gym one random Saturday morning, got the bug to have a little spar.

“Daniel was sparring with Hughie (Fury) at the time and a few of the lads in the gym. I just wanted to have a spar, it’s in me, it’s what I do so, I remember I had no equipment with me, no head guard.

“So I don’t remember exactly what I was wearing. Don’t quote me because I don’t like telling lies, but I remember having one shoe off and one shoe on. Shoe came off, and it was what it was”

Tyson Fury vs Daniel Dubois in the future?

Fury (31-0-1, 21 KOs) is coming off a spectacular performance in a rematch against former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder in February this year. He won the bout via seventh-round TKO when Wilder’s corner threw in the towel.

The first match took place in December 2018 and resulted in a controversial split decision draw. Both fighters are set to face each other yet again by the end of this year in a trilogy bout.

The 22-year-old Dubois (15-0, 14 KOs) recently fought against Dutchman Ricardo Snijders, where he won rather effortlessly via TKO in the second round. He is set to face Olympian Joe Joyce in October this year. Dubois is one of the hottest young heavyweights right now and is lauded by many as the next champion.

Though not on the elite level yet, Dubois is heading there one step at a time. And while Fury has already built his legacy by beating two of the longest-reigning heavyweight champions of all time, Daniel still has a long way to go.

Their sparring sessions might be a thing of the past, but if Dubois continues to steamroll his opponents like he has up-till now, it won’t be long before we see the two square off inside the ring.
