Oscar De La Hoya and Canelo Alvarez have a long-standing beef that could even rival the feud between Mike Tyson and his former promoter Don King. In September 2022, the renowned Mexican sensation initiated legal action against his former promoter, Oscar, and broadcasting ally, DAZN. The lawsuit claimed breach of contract, stemming from DAZN’s refusal to honor the agreed-upon $35 million per fight, which was guaranteed as part of a lucrative 10-fight agreement with the streaming service.

However, now it’s Oscar De La Hoya, who is the one accusing! What are the accusations? The retired boxer and the head of Golden Boy Promotions, Oscar, has accused Canelo’s team of stealing money from Canelo. When did this happen? Well, the former world champion recently hopped on his Instagram account to make this startling revelation! Also, Oscar was in no joking mood, so he roped in David Benavidez as well.

Oscar De La Hoya asks Alvarez to take a closer look at his inner circle

Since his separation from Golden Boy Promotions, Canelo Alvarez has on several occasions spoken about Oscar De La Hoya, claiming his former promoter had stolen money from him and overall, Oscar is a bad person. Not to mention, the duo nearly came to blows during the Jaime Munguia vs. Canelo Alvarez press conference. 

However, Oscar claims Canelo is still talking “S**t” about him, so a couple of hours ago, he said in a clip shared on Instagram, “All you say is f**k him, f**k that! Oh, he stole from me. Well, aside from defaming me, why don’t you look inside your own circle because I know for a fact, people are stealing from you”.

To add salt to injury, Oscar mocked Canelo by claiming he made him and Munguia a boatload of money from their last fight. However, Oscar claims Canelo did that “All because you are afraid of David Benavidez. F**k you!” David Benavidez has been asking for a fight against Canelo Alvarez for quite some time now—and the good news is, he feels the fight is close to happening soon!

David Benavidez thinks Canelo Alvarez may get his $200 million

Not that long ago, Canelo Alvarez prized himself out of a potential fight against David Benavidez by demanding an unbelievable $200 million to make the fight happen. Most people, including Benavidez, have condemned the move, suggesting the Mexican superstar is afraid of losing against ‘The Mexican Monster’.

However, ‘Cinnamon’ hasn’t deterred from his path, being adamant about his demands. So, while speaking to Boxing Scene on Friday, June 7, Benavidez revealed, “I feel like it’s going to happen soon. I don’t know how soon, but it’s looking more realistic”. He even added that Canelo would likely get his $200 million while both he and the fans eagerly anticipate the long-awaited bout they’ve been yearning for.

With Oscar’s new revelation about Canelo’s team, the super middleweight Mexican star might need to evaluate his balance sheets. If any such discoveries are made, it will be one of the biggest controversies of 2024.
