There have been a lot of talks around Jermall Charlo‘s WBC middleweight title. The 32-year-old has been inactive in the sport for more than three years. But his title has not been taken away from him yet. Even though WBC is in support of the undefeated boxer, not everyone is pleased with this gesture of the governing body. It seems understandable, as many contenders for the title feel robbed of their chances to get their hands on the title. And recently, Oscar De La Hoya shared his views about the same. He proposed a fight between Jaime Munguia and Sergiy Derevyanchenko for the title.

Things took a rather different turn when an American reporter pointed out a flaw in Oscar’s tweet. But it seems like the promoter was not in the mood for this misunderstanding, and he further called out the reporter.

Oscar De La Hoya doesn’t like “Know it all” people

The 50-year-old promoter took to his Twitter, asking why Charlo has not been stripped of his title despite being inactive for about two years. And he further gave an idea for a fight between Munguia and Derevyanchenko for the WBC middleweight title.

Dan Rafael, a prominent journalist in Boxing, replied to Hoya and wrote,One thing @OscarDeLaHoya: Munguia vs. Sergiy is at 168 not 160.Given that Rafael stated the difference between the middleweight and the super-middleweight division, it seems like Oscar did not like his response. And it is safe to say that when it comes to boxing, Oscar, who is a former six-division world champion, knows a thing or two.

Oscar De La Hoya responded, “If WBC would have ordered, the fight would have been at 160. I love that everyone thinks they know it all.” But now, Charlo is expected to make his return to the ring. And he has had altercations with the promoter regarding his title.

When will Jermall Charlo return to the ring?

The reigning WBC middleweight champion, Jermall Charlo, last fought in 2021, prevailing in his bout against Juan Macias Montiel via unanimous decision. And since then, he is yet to step foot inside the ring. He was scheduled to fight in June last year but withdrew after suffering a back injury.
