The bout between Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis has been one that boxing fans want the most. Although talks between the two camps have been ongoing for a long time, the bout is yet to be officially confirmed. Garcia’s promoter Oscar De La Hoya recently revealed that they were in talks with Tank’s camp and the fight could be booked in the near future.

However, the former 6-division champion revealed the only thing that might come in the way of this super fight. In an interview with iD Boxing De La Hoya claimed that he along with Davis’ promoter, have done their part to book the fight. He added that it was now up to the networks to sort out the contract for the broadcasting rights. “The promoters have done their job. We have come to terms and everything. Now it’s up to the networks. Showtime, DAZN please for the fans, make it happen.” Said De La Hoya.

Moreover, when asked if the bout could manifest next year, De La Hoya urged the networks to make the fight happen. “I’m not an executive but as a fan please Showtime, DAZN make this fight happen.” He added.

This fight has been one that fans have long been waiting for. However, as is the case in boxing, super fights like these rarely happen at the right moment. Despite this, De La Hoya seems optimistic that the fight could happen in the near future.

In an interview with Fight Hype, ‘Golden Boy’ was confident that this fight will happen. Although he didn’t get into the details of the contract, he stated that this fight was what both parties wanted. “We’re in talks. That’s all we can say. Is this fight going to happen? I believe so. This is a fight that both sides want.”He said.

De La Hoya signed Garcia as a teenager and has been his promoter since then. The two have made significant progress together with Garcia somewhat filling in for Canelo Alvarez, who parted ways with De La Hoya. This means that De La Hoya might not fully go through with the fight until everything is in order and favorable to his fighter.
