However, the former 6-division champion revealed the only thing that might come in the way of this super fight. In an interview with iD Boxing De La Hoya claimed that he along with Davis’ promoter, have done their part to book the fight. He added that it was now up to the networks to sort out the contract for the broadcasting rights. “The promoters have done their job. We have come to terms and everything. Moreover, when asked if the bout could manifest next year, De La Hoya urged the networks to make the fight happen. “I’m not an executive but as a fan please Showtime, DAZN make this fight happen.” He added.
This fight has been one that fans have long been waiting for. However, as is the case in boxing, super fights like these rarely happen at the right moment. Despite this, De La Hoya seems optimistic that the fight could happen in the near future.

De La Hoya signed Garcia as a teenager and has been his promoter since then. The two have made significant progress together with Garcia somewhat filling in for Canelo Alvarez, who parted ways with De La Hoya. This means that De La Hoya might not fully go through with the fight until everything is in order and favorable to his fighter.
