Golden Boy promoter Oscar De La Hoya will support his former prodigy Canelo Alvarez in his fight against Caleb Plant for the maiden undisputed 168 lbs championship tonight. Despite all the differences that have hampered their relation, De La Hoya is still in favor of the P4P king.

The former world champion vowed to try working on regaining his goodwill with Alvarez. While Canelo Alvarez was already working as a free agent with Eddie Hearn by then, the Golden Boy Promoter tried to grab him back under the stable.
Oscar De La Hoya posted a collage of Canelo Alvarez on Instagram and called him the best of the era. He wrote, “Wishing good luck to who I believe is the best fighter in the world today, and the fighter of this generation.”

Alvarez was contractually aligned with DAZN and Golden Boy promotions in a multi-fight deal. He was expected to make over $300 million in a span of a few years. As that didn’t happen, the P4P king took legal actions against his team. He filed a breach of contract lawsuit against De La Hoya. It spoiled the relationship between the two.
