Canelo Alvarez, a few days back, locked horns with Caleb Plant for the undisputed super-middleweight title. Alvarez was an undeniable favorite in this epic encounter, and he fared the way he was expected to. Putting on a beating on Plant, Canelo became the first man in history to bag all the 168-pound titles on the line.

With his charismatic performance, Canelo proved why he’s the p4p king. Also, many notable boxing personalities lauded him for the show he pulled off alongside ‘Sweethands’.

Canelo’s former promoter, Oscar De La Hoya, also was one of the many bigwigs that praised the Mexican stalwart. Alvarez, a few years ago, was on great terms with ‘Golden Boy’, but the two parted ways over some feud on contracts. Since then, the due became bitter rivals.

However, over the past few months, De La Hoya has only praised Canelo. And he recently took it to Twitter to share some sublime words for the undisputed super-middleweight king.

“I respect @Canelo for chasing history, something everyone today is afraid of. #VivaMexico” he wrote.

Canelo began his fight with Plant just like he usually does against every opponent, i.e. of reading his opponents. That said, he spent the first couple of rounds in reading and counterattacking. Later, he began executing his game plan by attacking Plant’s body.

‘Sweethands’ also shook Canelo with some fiery jabs, but Canelo was prepared for the same, and he seemed unmoved.

Finally, in round 11, Canelo got an opening, and he knocked Plant down twice to finish the fight.

Out of all the performances Canelo put inside the ring, this fight rightly went into the history books as one of his best performances of all time.

With this, Canelo now sits at the peak of the 168-pound division. But his vision is now set to conquer the cruiserweight division. It’ll be interesting to see if he captures all the belts at the cruiserweight roster too.
