Amir Khan, the former unified welterweight champion, is tracking down a super-fight against Oscar De La Hoya, as the latter recently teased his return to action.

De La Hoya, 47, is seeking a way back to the ring, and he vows to encounter any of the top-gunners. If not a top-gunner right now, Amir Khan is clearly a veteran boxer. That said, Khan vs De La Hoya can be massive for the sport.

While Khan has already voiced his proposal for the fight, ‘The Golden Boy’ is still to react.

Khan, 33, took to Twitter and expressed his desire of facing Oscar De La Hoya.

Instead of delivering a brashy callout, ‘King’ Khan kept it simple and straight. “I heard Oscar De La Hoya is thinking of making a comeback,” wrote the Briton before throwing the offer.

Khan was on the verge of calling it a day after facing a lack of potential opponents. He fought last in July 2019 and earned an impressive KO win over the Australian Billy Dib. Since then, he has been linked with several big names, including the likes of Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather.

However, none of the proposed bouts met with fruition. Thus, an in-ring encounter between two former World Champions appears bodacious for the fans.

Oscar De La Hoya has brought the entire debate to a resolution as he disclosed his return plans to ESPN. Specifically, ‘The Golden Boy’ is seeking a professional bout over an exhibition contest, sending fans into a frenzy.

While Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. are breaking retirements for an exhibition contest, De La Hoya isn’t looking for the same.

Speaking with ESPN, he said, “The rumors are true, and I’m going to start sparring in the next few weeks,”

“It’s a real fight. I miss being in.”

The Golden Boy Show

It has been 12 years since the Mexican sensation has set foot in a professional bout. In 2008, De La Hoya has had retired after suffering an RTD loss against Manny Pacquiao.

However, he is still active in the community as a celebrity promoter. De La Hoya has produced numerous superstars to the sport, including Canelo Alvarez and Ryan Garcia.

However, it seems that the Golden Boy has found his lost fire to get back inside the ring. If these fears culminate into reality, there’s no denying that the boxing community will witness one of its most stellar events.

Moreover, when De La Hoya claims himself to be in the best form of his career. “My jab feels faster than ever. I have to make sure that my conditioning is perfect, my health is good. And that’s going to take place in the next few weeks. So we’ll see.”

While Amir Khan has already offered himself for the possible matchup, De La Hoya can materialize it shortly for the fans.
