Oscar De La Hoya’s NSFW Admission Following Canelo Alvarez’s Fight Disturbs the Internet

Canelo Alvarez faced Gennady Golovkin for a highly anticipated showdown on September 17, 2022. However, many fans felt like the bout was a rather lackluster affair. In fact, boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya had a few choice words to say about the same.

The build-up to the fight was of Gargantuan proportions in itself. On May 24, 2022, it was announced that Alvarez will return to defend his undisputed titles in the super middleweight division, in a trilogy showdown against Golovkin. This was despite Alvarez expressing his desire to avenge his light-heavyweight loss against Dmitry Bivol.

Alvarez faced Golovkin at the iconic T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada. The bout saw him defending his WBA (Super), WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring super middleweight titles.

It should be mentioned that the fight was one-sided for most of the rounds, with Alvarez causing significant damage. Meanwhile, Golovkin tried to reclaim his pace in the last few rounds. But he was unsuccessful in doing so. At the end of the twelve rounds, the judges scored 116-112, 115-113, and 115-113, in favor of Alvarez, making him the victor by decision.

A lot of fans felt that the fight was not as interesting as his former fights. And De Loya Hoya, on the other hand, even mentioned that he was falling asleep during the fight. That is, until his wife grabbed his backside.

While both fighters showcased stellar performances. There is no denying the fight was mostly just a one-sided affair.

Boxing fans were not too happy with Oscar De La Hoya’s comments. In fact, a lot of fans took to social media to share their thoughts.

A few fans were quick to point out that De La Hoya weirded them out with his statement.

Meanwhile, user @Irvelazquez stated that De La Hoya made such a statement only because Alvarez left Golden Boy Promotions.

Similarly, user @LouieTheKid also chimed in agreement. The user mentioned that De La Hoya suddenly stopped being Alvarez’s fan after he left Golden Boy Promotions.

However, user @nycjakee went on to him out for his statement. Moreover, the user also called De La Hoya an overrated boxer whose opinion did not matter.

Canelo Alvarez vs Gennady Golovkin 3 had a spectacular build-up to the main event. So it came as no surprise that the fight was a star-studded event with multiple notable names in attendance.

Hollywood and the YouTube community had their due representation with Michael B. Jordan and Logan Paul gracing the event with their presence.

NBA was not far behind, as Stephen Curry was also seen in the audience. Notably, Curry and Alvarez have been regular golf partners.

The UFC also extended their mighty arm of support, with Nate Diaz and his entourage in attendance.
