Two-time Olympic Gold medalist Claressa Shields has set her sights on a new goal in life. This comes after the Flint, Michigan native created history by becoming a three-weight undisputed champion and the first female boxer to achieve undisputed status in the heavyweight division after defeating the previously undefeated Danielle Perkins.

The pair went toe-to-toe at Shields’ hometown of Flint, Michigan, where she even has a street named after her. The outcome of the fight was predictable, as Perkins at 42 barely had any boxing experience, at least as extensive as her opponent. Regardless, the 42-year-old performed better than many thought, but in the 10th and final round of the fight, Shields ended the bout with a right hook that knocked down Perkins.

The judges scored the fight in Shields’ favor, with the scorecard showing 97-92, 99-90, and 100-89. The fight was undeniably a remarkable achievement in Shields’ career. But while appearing in an interview with Fight Hype post-bout, the 16-0 boxer revealed that her ambitions are much bigger.

“I think I want to keep fighting and let it set in at the very end,” Shields said, holding back her tears when pressed about whether the scale of her success in the sport has set in yet. “Because I haven’t gotten all my endorsements and sponsorships yet.” It’s not like Shields doesn’t have any sponsorship or endorsement deals, but that doesn’t seem to be enough for the ‘The GWOAT’ of female boxing.

“I’m waiting to get the $20 million Adidas or $30 million Under Armour and Nike,” Shields explained. The 29-year-old added that she wants to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated, noting, “I want to represent all these companies, so I have some work to do.” And as far as boxing is concerned, Shields claimed, “I’m just gonna keep racking up the wins and the belts.”

Claressa Shields wants to fight these boxers next

Claressa Shields has big plans after her dominant win over Danielle Perkins. Following her historic victory, Shields outlined her next potential opponents. “I want to fight two more times this year,” Shields said. “I want to fight against Franchon-Crews [Dezurn], I want to do a rematch with Hannah Gabriels, I would love to bring Savannah Marshall to the USA and tap that a** again, and it’s always on the table if Cris Cyborg or Laila Ali want to fight.”

A rematch with Gabriels, the only fighter to knock Shields down, could be intriguing, while a U.S.-based bout against Marshall may draw major attention. Shields has also expressed interest in crossover fights, including a long-rumored clash with MMA star Cris Cyborg. With Shields now 16-0 (3 KOs) and continuing to make history, her next move will be closely watched in the boxing world.
