Former WBC heavyweight champ Tyson Fury is counting down to his massive rematch with the unbeaten Oleksandr Usyk on December 21 in Riyadh. But in classic Fury fashion, he’s stirring the pot! Recently, he threw a bit of cold water on the potential rematch fans are dying to see—Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois. According to ‘The Gypsy King,’ don’t hold your breath!

Back in September, AJ locked horns with ‘DDD’ in Wembley, as the 27-year-old shocked the world by brutalizing Joshua to score a 5th-round knockout win. Fury was ringside for that bout, and seeing the result, he even cried out about losing out on a potential $150 million payday to fight Joshua because of the loss.

Chatting with Fury recently, Kugan Cassius of iFL TV brought up the same question, stirring up some doubt: if Joshua hadn’t lost to Dubois, would a fight between Fury and Joshua really have pulled in the huge payday Fury imagined? Fury though remained adamant, claiming, “It generates a lot of money but it’s not anymore, is it? A lot less now.”

Regardless, Cassius questioned whether Fury predicted Dubois to win in the first fight from the beginning. Tyson Fury agreed, stating, “I did, yeah. I fancy him.” Fury went as far as to pick Dubois in the rematch too, stating, “Again as well, same result.” Later in the interview, the reporter hit Fury with rumors swirling around, specifically whether Joshua should rematch Dubois.

“If you get beat by somebody, you rematch them,” Fury, who is about to fight in the third rematch of his career, said. “If you don’t… It says a lot about your character. If you don’t want to rematch, the man who just beat you.” Later, highlighting his own rematch against John McDermott, Fury claimed every time he had a tough fight he jumped into a rematch.

When the reporter pointed out that Joshua had taken a similar path in his career, Tyson Fury didn’t hold back, dishing on the rumors he’d been hearing through the grapevine. “But this time, I’m hearing he’s not wanting it, or it’s not going to happen. I’ve heard it off the grapevine,” Tyson Fury told Cassius. Meanwhile, Dubois’ promoter doubts Joshua’s team will take the rematch.

Tyson Fury might be right about Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois 2

Queensberry honcho Frank Warren expressed skepticism about Anthony Joshua’s team agreeing to a rematch. “I’d have that in a heartbeat. He’s got it [if he wants it],” Warren told Sky Sports highlighting his eagerness for a second bout. However, he added, “Who’d you advise him to fight?” Warren was adamant about having the rematch in early 2025, claiming things will happen according to Dubois’ wishes because he is the champion.

“Daniel will defend his title in February and if it’s not Joshua then it’ll be against somebody who is ranked in the top five,” Warren continued. The February date might be strategically chosen to set up an undisputed fight for Dubois with the winner of Usyk vs. Fury. Meanwhile, Eddie Hearn told Sky Sports, “Our concern at the moment is just timing.” Hearn feels the best time for the rematch would be in May.

That being said, Tyson Fury might have given the inside scoop on the potential Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois 2. However, only time will tell whether Joshua and Dubois’ teams can settle on a date for the rematch. Do you think there will be a rematch?
