‘Please God Help Him Get Better’: Former Unified Boxing Champion Andy Ruiz Jr. Shares Heartbreaking Message

The Mexican culture is deeply rooted in its tradition, honor, and loyalty. The former unified heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr. hails from Mexico and is a man who still holds his culture and heritage close to his heart. Recently, he posted a heartfelt story on Instagram about one of his close ones, and it is utterly heartwarming to watch a ruthless boxer turn into a loving individual.

He wrote in his Instagram story caption, “Strongest grandpa in the world, please GOD help him get better 90 years and still strong @jessica.flores.710”

Ruiz Jr. shared an Instagram story about his grandfather, who is 90 years old, and prayed for a swift recovery from his illness. The ‘Destroyer’ is a strong combatant with sheer determination, and to some extent, one’s family instills these attributes in them. His grandad may have played a role in shaping who he is now, and we hope the boxer’s grandfather has a speedy recovery.

Andy Ruiz Jr. reveals his mission before retirement

The Mexican had taken the world by storm when he defeated the British phenom Anthony Joshua in June 2019. It was one of the biggest upsets in the present-day boxing scene. However, Ruiz Jr. and Joshua met again inside the ring in the same year in December. This time AJ outclassed the Mexican and was announced the winner. But the ‘Destroyer’ proved his mettle by defeating a fighter like AJ in the first fight.

Apparently, now Ruiz Jr. has something else on his mind. While talking to ESNEWS, the boxer stated, “I’m on a mission. I want to get that green belt. That’s the belt that I’m missing. So I don’t know what’s going to happen or whether Tyson Fury is going to vacate the belt. I don’t know who is going to be the person to try to win that belt, but that’s my mission now. After I get that, I can retire.”

The 32-year-old has now set his eyes on something big to regain his notoriety and respect. He wants to take the WBC title that Tyson Fury has. Currently, he is focusing on his upcoming bout with Luis Ortiz in September, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
