Gervonta Davis’ sensational uppercut KO against Leo Santa Cruz is one of the many knockouts that have happened this year inside the squared-circle.

Starting with Tyson Fury’s TKO win over Deontay Wilder, the sport has witnessed several dramatic turns with global lockdown and COVID-19 outbreak. While boxing had to go behind closed doors like every other sport, boxers haven’t failed to display violence on screens.

If we look at the entire list of knockouts from this year, it will be hard to pick the best one. That said, several celebrities like LeBron James have already billed Gervonta Davis’ performance as the KO of the year.

However, WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford doesn’t believe the same. ‘Bud’ considers Gervonta Davis‘ win as one of the best, but he also considers Jose Zepeda’s win over Ivan Baranchyk to be equally lethal. Thus, he cannot pick the best between them.

The undefeated welterweight champion has recently turned to Twitter to reveal his opinion. As per Crawford, both fights were “crazy brutal.” No surprise, he has a point. Apart from the knockouts, both contests were intense and close. Thus, it’s hard to rank them accordingly.

Gervonta Davis or Jose Zepeda? Who takes the top spot?

‘Tank’ has become the two-divisional WBA champion of the world as he knocked out Leo Santa Cruz in the sixth round of their 12-round main-event clash last Saturday.

However, Davis had to fight his way through the top. Leo Santa Cruz immensely pressured him in the early stage and knocked down ‘Tank’ in the first round.

While Davis got back on his feet, ‘El Terremoto’ continued to light him up. However, Davis timed a perfect uppercut in the sixth round. The venomous shot was enough to feed Santa Cruz to the canvas.

Jose Zepeda’s battle against Ivan Baranchyk was equally attractive for the fight fans. ‘Chon’ became the WBC silver super lightweight champion by knocking out Baranchyk in the fifth round of their 10-rounds battle on October 3.

Zepeda and Baranchyk did everything they could to beat each other. However, the former got the last laugh with a vicious knockout. While both of them were knocked down in the fifth round, the intense war ended with Baranchyk hitting the canvas. It is clearly one of the best knockouts of the year, if not the best.
