Daniel Dubois will challenge Oleksandr Usyk on August 26 in Wroclaw, Poland. Unlike Usyk, Dubois has a loss on his record. However, his knockout ratio is something to behold. Out of his 19 victories, 18 come via stoppages. Although he is the betting underdog going into the bout, it bears mention that the British boxer would only need one punch to sway the fight his way. What also makes this fight exciting is that both combatants have a history with Anthony Joshua. The Ukrainian fighter became a heavyweight champion by defeating, ‘AJ,’ back in 2021. Thereafter, he defended his title after defeating him again in 2022.

On the other hand, Dubois had a sparring session with Joshua back in 2019. At the time, apparently, Joshua was knocked down by the 25-year-old. Ahead of the fight, Dubois’ promoter, Frank Warren made a startling revelation about their sparring session.

Their sparring took place in 2019. Dubois was a relatively young prospect and Joshua was gearing up to face Jarrell Miller. Rumors started to spread in the boxing community that Dubois had knocked Joshua down during their sparring session. A few months later, Joshua suffered his first-ever defeat against Andy Ruiz. Many considered the blows in the spar to affect his performance.

However, this rumor has always been blurry but Frank Warren in an interview reiterated the same with conviction. In an interview with IFLTV, he stated, “Yes, ask him. Ask AJ. They sparred didn’t they and he knocked him over.”
