In a recent interview, current WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury shared his thoughts on some all-time legends of the sport. At one point, the youngest heavyweight champion and ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’, Mike Tyson, came up in the interview.

Tyson Fury admitted and suggested that Mike Tyson was an incredible fighter back in the day. However, ‘The Gypsy King’ also gave credit to ‘Iron’ Mike’s team including his old promoters Bill Cayton and Jim Jacobs. He said that Tyson’s team did a phenomenal job with branding him and picking the perfect fights at various stages of his professional career.

He was a very good fighter, Mike. Very, very feared, great management team behind him. Got him the right fights at the right time. They almost sold him like a brand, like Coca-Cola or McDonald’s. They did that good of a job with Mike Tyson. Bill Cayton, Jim Jacobs, they’ve done an awesome job with him, absolutely fantastic.

Got him all those fights, all those wins, made him an absolute legend in the boxing game. That was brains about them, they knew when to step him up, when to bring him back, and step him up again. Yeah, he was an awesome fighter of his day, Mike, for sure,” said Tyson Fury.

Tyson Fury wants to fight ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson

‘The Gypsy King’, Tyson Fury, is at the center of the heavyweight division right now. He holds a critical position and many top contenders now look at him as the key to a division unification bout.

In an interview before the Deontay Wilder trilogy fight, Tyson Fury expressed that he wishes to fight Dillian Whyte in a mega homecoming bout in the UK.

He added that if the Dillian Whyte fight falls through, he would also “love” to fight boxing legend Mike Tyon in an exhibition match.

I love watching Mike fight, his comeback was amazing and I would love to fight Mike in an exhibition.

If the December fight with Dillian Whyte doesn’t happen, I would love to fight Mike in an exhibition. Tyson vs Tyson, past vs present, there is so much fun to have out there in this game,” said Tyson Fury.
