This 2 fight deal has put Whyte’s position in jeopardy. Whyte will have been the mandatory challenger for 1000 days this July. He has been promised that he will receive a WBC bout by February 2021 latest. And when asked if these mandatories will come in the way of the Fury vs Joshua deal Arum said, “No. The mandatory situations are being worked out by all the organizations. It’s unfair to accelerate mandatories or keep them where they were because of the fact these fighters couldn’t fight for most of this year.”

Bob Arum has a suggestion to make

Arum suggests that for now, Dillian Whyte should take on Oleksandr Usyk for the interim position. And the winner of this fight should eventually fight the boxer that comes out victorious out of the unified 2 fight deal.

Arum said, “Dillian Whyte can fight for an ‘interim’ title or whatever makes him happy, and after Joshua and Fury have their two fights–It’s probably better if Dillian Whyte fights Usyk to get a real contender. I think boxing is gonna be totally different after this coronavirus is over.”
