Canelo Alvarez and Dmitry Bivol’s historic showdown stunned the entire world. Nobody had predicted that the Mexican star would lose. However, since the world champion lost to the Russian pugilist, many match-up rumors have begun to circulate. Boxing entities and fans are putting Alvarez up against potential opponents. Teddy Atlas, a well-known trainer, just tweeted something about the same.
If Canelo wants to be considered true King at 168 he needs to see Benavidez. And he’s too big and strong for Charlo. #BenavidezLemieux #boxing

Atlas is a big name in the boxing industry. He has been a well-respected trainer since 1976. Apparently, the veteran believes that the Mexican has to fight David Benavidez(26-0-0) to retain his title of being called the ‘king at 168’. Also, he feels that Benavidez would be a stronger and larger opponent for Jermall Charlo.
Moreover, Benavidez, the 25-year-old middleweight champion, has recently become the buzz of the town following his spectacular victory over David Lemieux. Benavidez is progressively making his way to the top with an unblemished record.
Potential fights for Canelo Alvarez
The victory of Dmitry Bivol over Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez was a pivotal event in the boxing world. Alvarez had been undefeated since 2013, but the Russian utterly devastated that record and pulled off one of the biggest upsets in boxing history.
The pound-for-pound king, on the other hand, is recognized for taking on new tasks. Meanwhile, the fight made it clear that a sequel was required. Both athletes have stated in interviews that they are eager to battle again inside the ring.

In addition, Gennady Golovkin is another tough fighter that can contend with Alvarez. Both pugilists have faced each other twice inside the ring. The first bout took place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas in September 2017. In front of a sold-out crowd, the two titans lit the ring on fire. Despite the fact that Golovkin was widely regarded as the winner, the battle finished in a contentious draw.
In 2018, the two rivals fought for the second time. They appeared to be significantly more competitive and aggressive this time. The T-Mobile Arena witnessed an exciting display that enthralled the spectators with a spectacular 12-round battle. Apparently, Alvarez won by decision this time.
