Before stepping inside the ring with fighter Baba Nsor in 2011 and kicking off his professional boxing career with a technical knockout win, Richard Commey led a very different life. Today, the Accra, Ghana native is one of the best lightweight pugilists in the world, and has faced some of the highly rated boxers at 135 like Teofimo Lopez and is now heading into a 12-round clash against Vasyl Lomachenko. Moreover, his net worth lies between the range of $1 million-$5 million.

However, things were not always smooth sailing for him and he has had to put himself through severe adversity to get to where he is today.

Richard Commey was born in James Town, Accra in Ghana. He had a very humble beginning as he was born in a poor family.
