Ricky Hatton was a Mancunian icon and also an avid Manchester City FC supporter whose popularity transcended the boxing world. He was remembered a week ago when the legendary rock band, The Oasis, soccer legend Wayne Rooney, and Hatton’s wife, Coleen, attended his memorial service. Conor McGregor extended support to Hatton’s son
As previously alluded to, Ricky Hatton’s untimely passing came as a huge shock to his family, and one of the most affected individuals was his son, Campbell. The boxing legend’s son shared a message on social media remembering his father, claiming that to describe his loss, “heartbroken isn’t the word.” Campbell takes pride in being called a copy of his father by the people close to them, but the fact that the presence of ‘The Hitman’ is gone forever hasn’t sunk in yet.
“Looked up to you in every aspect of life. Can’t explain how much I’m going to miss the laughs we had and all the good times, which I will remember forever. Just can’t believe we won’t have any more. Love you, Dad,” Campbell Hatton wrote on Instagram. Conor McGregor, who, besides being an MMA superstar, is also a boxing fan, assured Ricky Hatton’s son that he’ll always be there to support him when he needs it the most. “Here for you, brother,” the former double champion wrote.
