Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall’s fight turned out to be one of the most fierce battles of early 2022. Right from power punching to a knockdown to bad blood, this fight had everything a fan could ask for. In the end, the undisputed champ ended up defending his straps, as well as his clean record, by claiming a controversial SD win.
In a post-fight interview with iFL TV, Taylor stayed real on his performance, win, and more.

He said, “Yeah good you know, I’m slightly pissed off with the performance that I put on but you know, obviously happy I got the result.”
“You know, the right man won in the end. It was closer than you know everyone expected. Everyone expected me to blow Jack out of the water. And so I think that’s why everyone’s surprised you know at the result, but the right man won the fight.”
Jack Catterall proved to be Taylor‘s sternest test to date. He applied immense pressure on ‘The Tartan Tornado’ from the first round itself. That said, the champ seemed shook with his adversary’s approach initially.
Later, Taylor also opened up on his skills and began attacking Catterall with straight rights and jabs. But he got counterattacked many times and even suffered a cut under the left eye.

Catterall was on fleek with his combinations. He landed his best left-hand shot on Taylor countless times. Moreover, the underdog dropped the champ in round 8.

Josh Taylor was taken into deep waters. Also, it seemed as if the champ lost his grip on the fight after the knockdown. But he continued the fight somehow.

In round 11, the referee deducted one point for Taylor for punching after the bell. In round 11, Catterall’s one point got deducted for holding.
In all, this contest came out way better than expected, and in the end, it proved to be a wild slugfest between the two rivals.
2022 will have some extraordinary bouts come to life. But for now, this contest can be pinned as one high-voltage encounter which entertained countless boxing enthusiasts.
