It’s been five months since former WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury suffered a rematch loss to Oleksandr Usyk. Yet, claims of a robbery continue to pour in from Fury’s camp. The two first met in May of last year, when ‘The Cat’ made history by becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999.
It was the first defeat of Tyson Fury’s career, so it didn’t take long for him to sign on for a rematch with the undefeated Ukrainian legend. The night of vengeance came and went, but the outcome remained the same. This time, however, the judges left no room for debate: what had been a split decision became a unanimous verdict for Usyk, further cementing his dominance over Fury.
However, John Fury, the heavyweight’s loudmouth father, doesn’t seem to have gotten the memo. Having been booted from his son’s corner in the second fight due to disruptive behavior during their first fight, the 59-year-old has come back with allegations of robbery. “Well, first and foremost, he had his belt stolen off him, didn’t he?” Big John told Seconds Out.

Fury Sr alleged that the promoters had to pay his son a “shed load of money” for the fight, and they didn’t want to do that again, so Fury was forced into the defeat. “Probably couldn’t afford to pay Tyson that same money again if he’d let him remain as champion,” John Fury added, even claiming, “For me, he won both fights.”

However, Tyson Fury’s father acknowledged one thing—his son wasn’t in “fantastic shape in this second one.” Yet even that had a reason behind it, which John Fury explained in detail. “In the first one, he needed more rest time, to be honest with you. He put a full camp in, seven weeks, got caught, he had three weeks’ rest, and he was back in the gym for another eight weeks.”
He claimed Tyson Fury was “overtrained” in the first fight, but because ‘The Gypsy King’ was facing a “10-15 million dollar fine” if he pulled out. “[So] He was backed in a corner and he couldn’t do it.” It’s worth mentioning that Fury and Usyk were supposed to have their first fight on February 17, 2024, but it was delayed due to a cut Tyson Fury sustained above his right eye during sparring.
Nonetheless, Tyson Fury has since retired from the sport, adamant about staying there despite coming out of retirement several times in the past. Usyk, on the other hand, will fight Daniel Dubois for a chance to become a two-time undisputed heavyweight champion on July 19 at Wembley Stadium in London. Meanwhile, John Fury didn’t stop with the allegations. He also blamed others for Fury’s loss.

John Fury blames trainer for Tyson Fury losing to Oleksandr Usyk
John Fury has pointed fingers at Tyson Fury’s trainer, SugarHill Steward, for his son’s loss to Oleksandr Usyk, claiming poor corner advice nearly led to a knockout. In their first fight, Usyk hurt Fury badly in the ninth round, and John believes he was the difference between survival and defeat. “If it wasn’t for me in his corner, he’d have been knocked out, simple as that,” he told Seconds Out.

“He was listening to the wrong instructions… too many people in the corner.” John criticized the tactical approach, particularly Fury moving left against a southpaw. “I’m a southpaw. You don’t go to the left on me, because I’ll catch you.” He also questioned SugarHill’s credentials, stating, “If he was that good of a trainer, SugarHill, his uncle Emanuel, would have left him the top job, wouldn’t he?”
That said, even though the whole world has accepted that Oleksandr Usyk won both fights, John Fury continues to deny it. Oleksandr Usyk hasn’t responded to these claims yet. But what do you think? Do you agree with John Fury?
