The 13-0 boxer spoke to ESNEWS on YouTube and first addressed Garcia’s decision to pull out of his fight. He said, “Trying to get more money with me, I would do it too.”

Romero then explained why the undefeated American should fight him. He said, “I have a belt, I’m a bigger name, people know me, it’s easier to sell the fight and you make more money. It’s stupid not to fight me.”

Should Ryan Garcia fight Rolando Romero?

Based on his comments, the 25-year-old is eager to prove his worth against Garcia. However, ‘King Ry’ is yet to address the call-outs from Romero. So should Garcia agree to a fight against his compatriot?

Garcia, who pulled out of the Fortuna fight citing depression, does not have an opponent lined up. However, he reassured fans he would fight his illness and come back stronger. The superstar would undoubtedly want to return with a bang, and hence, a fight against Romero would make sense.

Romero (the WBA interim champion) is right in saying a fight between the two would be a bigger event. A win here would give either boxer the status of a mandatory for two governing bodies.

Also, considering the personalities of both fighters, it would be an entertaining event. Fans have already gotten a glimpse of this with Romero hitting out at Garcia. Despite this, given that none of the other top lightweights are facing each other, it would be no surprise if this fight did not happen.

What do you make of these comments from Rolando Romero? Do you think Ryan Garcia should face him next?
