George Groves weighs in on Eubank Jr. vs. Smith 2

In a recent interview with BoxingNews+ Groves begins by acknowledging the challenges that Eubank faces in this bout. According to him, Eubank’s opponent, Liam Smith, possesses a superior boxing pedigree. In addition, he also highlighted Smith’s background as a successful amateur with numerous senior ABA titles and representing his country.

“He can’t outbox, Liam Smith, Liam Smith just has a better boxing pedigree. Very talented amateur, won numerous senior ABA titles, boxed for his country, and has been a wily old pro for a long, long time. So, he’s a better boxer than Eubank. ” said Grove.

However, keeping these factors in mind, the former champion still believes that Eubank Jr has a chance to beat Smith. Despite this, Groves thinks that Eubank Jr. may have to “roll back the clock” to secure victory in this highly anticipated rematch.

Further elaborating on the contest Groves suggests that Eubank’s path to victory may require him to rely on his work rate, engine, and ability to finish exchanges. He also noted that Eubank appears slightly bigger, and to emerge victorious, he might need to impose his size effectively.

“I think Eubank is going to have to roll back the clock a little bit. It’s gonna be about You know, his work rate, his engine, finishing the exchanges. Trying to impose his physicality on, obviously, if I think he, I mean, he looks slightly bigger, man. That’s where he, you know, he can and probably has to win the fight.” he added.
