After the 6th round TKO defeat, the 26-year-old appeared disappointed but did not forget to mention the support and cheer he received for trading leather with WBA (Regular) lightweight champion, Gervonta Davis.

Rolly took to Instagram recently and shared a few pictures. Along with that, he penned a long message to thank both the winner of the bout and the boxing fans.

He wrote, “Thank you to Gervonta for accepting this fight, my team, family, and everyone who came out and sold-out Barclays making this the highest grossing and most attended boxing event in Barclays history, and to those who tuned in on PPV.”

In the final statement, he dropped a motivational quote. He wrote, “Never stop believing in yourself.”

Notably, before the event, the southpaw gun, Gervonta Davis, was the favorite. But this thought never tormented Romero throughout the entire drama. Certainly, ‘Tank’ was the toughest opponent Romera had faced in his whole career, but it had no impact on Romero’s confidence. He went toe-to-toe with Davis from the beginning till the end.

This was the first title shot of Rolly Romero. Before meeting Davis, the power puncher was an established undefeated knockout machine similar to the three-weight class champion. In the initial rounds, he put forth a competitive slugfest. He landed a few shots and forced Davis to move back.

Davis had already sensed the power exerted by Romero behind his fists. He kept himself away from the range. It was finally in round six, when Davis caught Rolly with a sharp left hook and the latter could not survive that lethal shot.
