The English soccer legend Wayne Rooney has become the center of controversy but not for footballing reasons. The 37-year-old is on everyone’s tongue from the WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury to the YouTube boxing star KSI.

The latter made a stunning revelation ahead of his fight against the UFC star Dillon Danis.

When asked about who offered him to fight, he replied, “it’s funny. I hope he doesn’t get annoyed I said this. Wayne Rooney hit me up being like, we should fight and I said no. I just don’t want to do that.”

The clip of this response created a buzz on social media platforms when Michael Benson shared it.

Fans came to Rooney’s defense. They warned the 29-year-old of getting smoked.

A fan wrote, “Rooney would smoke you pal.”

Rooney once had a boxing match with his pal Phil Bardsley. The duo sparred in Rooney’s kitchen. Everything was going smooth till Bardsley caught him with a strong jab. The former English team captain had never expected that it would turn out like this.

He fell on the kitchen floor unconscious. The entire drama was filmed by one of his friends and went viral on the internet. So, it’s quite natural that whenever his name gets dragged to anything boxing related, his fans recall the infamous knockdown.

Another opined that Rooney has the upper hand when compared to KSI. The latter turned athlete only a few years back but Rooney is already a well-established soccer player, the fan further added.

Another fan speculated the result of the fight that never happened.

Rooney was present ringside in Tyson Fury vs Derek Chisora’s fight. Following Fury’s TKO win, he demanded a knighthood for the champion. According to him, ‘The Gypsy King’ is the biggest star in boxing with the hope of remaining undefeated in the near future.
