With a huge shock to boxing fans, the boxing kingdom, a trusted media house for boxing, posted on Twitter that there may be no place for boxing in the Paris Olympics, in 2024. Somehow it took away the heart of the fans, and Irish Professional Boxer, Michael Conlan, has given full credit to IBA or AIBA for the mishap. He also stated that this would have a major outcome in the sport of boxing in the future. According to Conlan, IBA has been damaged, and he described them as “Rotten from the core”. If boxing gets removed from the Olympics, it will have a huge impact on every other combat sport, and it will be devastating.

Boxing is a very ancient sport, and it may be dated back to the time of the first Olympics. It was included as a category in 1904, nearly 122 years ago today. It also has a huge craze among the youth and sports fanatics. But if it gets removed from the Olympics, it will lead to a huge problem.

Boxing is such a sport, in which most countries take part in the Olympics. For such a sport, it will be devastating if it does not get any place in the Olympics.

Meanwhile, Irish boxer Michael Conlan also agreed with the IOC and gave a long message on Twitter.

Before taking Conlan’s statement about the disaster, let’s look back at some of the past events. It started with the 2020 Tokyo Olympics when the IOC blamed IBA for its views towards the sport. The International Boxing Association stripped boxing in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and also the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics may not be hosting boxing, if things go this way.

Also, an official from the IOC said, “The recent IBA Congress has shown once more that IBA has no real interest in the sport of boxing and the boxers, but is only interested in its own power.” Which again validates Conlan’s point.

From these things, it is very much clear that IBA has responsibility for the mishap and if it becomes true in the future. Although there is hope that all the pending reforms which the IOC wants can be done by IBA. It is up to IBA how they will look into the matter. Do you agree with Michael Conlan?
