Did Artur Beterbiev really defeat Dmitry Bivol last Saturday in Riyadh? Folks are divided””with everyone choosing one side or the other. Obviously, a rematch is the best possible next step to settle the debate once and for all. Former undisputed light heavyweight champion Roy Jones Jr., who held the title back in 1999, has the same idea.

You see, the 33-year-old started the fight strong, but his 39-year-old opponent finished it better. One could argue that a draw might have been the best decision in this scenario, but an abnormal scorecard from the fight tells a different story. One judge scored the fight 115-113 in Beterbiev’s favor, another scored it 114-114 draw.

However, the third judge scored the bout 116-112 despite it being such a closely contested fight, something Jones branded “ridiculous.” For fans looking to place bets on such closely contested fights, it’s worth checking out betting sites that accept bitcoin for quick and easy transactions. Turning to Instagram yesterday, the last undisputed light heavyweight champion reflected on Saturday’s bout, stating, “I thought [the fight] could have gone either way, but you know, what happens””happens.”

Reacting to the bizarre scorecard, Jones Jr. said, “Nobody won nor lost a fight by four points, so that’s ridiculous.” This led the 55-year-old Hall of Famer to suggest, “We need an immediate rematch.” Interestingly, both Beterbiev and Bivol have expressed openness to getting back in the ring, though no official announcement has been made.

Meanwhile, Jones also went over the performances both fighters put on during the fight.

Roy Jones Jr. on why the Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol fight was a draw

‘Captain Hook’ has over two decades of experience dominating his opponents. Safe to say that he knows what he is talking about, unlike what some would say about the judge who scored the fight 116-112. Regardless, it appears that Jones was keeping the score as well, and he felt it was a draw.

In the video, he further explained, “Beterbiev [showed] me more than he’s ever shown me before about being a boxer. He actually can box and I was surprised.” Conversely, Jones thought Bivol “was a very good defender”¦ a good counterpuncher, which we knew.” He even acknowledged that while Bivol started strong, “Beterbiev did finish the fight strong or stronger.”

Comparing what these men managed to do during the fight, Jones came to the conclusion, “In my point of view, the fight should be a draw.”

That being said, the possibility of a rematch between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol seems very high. However, there’s no update on when exactly this fight may go down. Do you agree with Jones’ assessment? Or do you have another perspective?
