Roy Jones Jr. is not looking at his upcoming fight against Mike Tyson as an exhibition contest. Instead, he is preparing himself for every adversary, since Jones Jr. doesn’t consider it safe to get inside the ring with Tyson.

Despite being inactive for 15 years in professional boxing, Tyson still appears sharp while showcasing his skills. That said, he might have the same fuel inside him that has knocked out several elites back in the days. Although Roy Jones Jr. has retired much later than Tyson (2018), he believes that Tyson can offer him many threats inside the squared circle.

Thus, for people who are viewing it as a friendly exhibition bout, Roy Jones wants to say that it will be nothing less than an intense fight where both the veterans will give their best to bag the win.

Tyson and Roy Jones are former world champions and two of the best in the sport. While they have hit their dotage now, a contest between them is still alluring for the fight fans.

Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr. will be nothing less than a war

The matchup materialized after too many twists and turns in the tale. While there were many big names already on the list, Tyson went ahead with ‘Captain Hook’ as his next opponent.

On the Joe Rogan Experience, Roy Jones Jr. said, “I was excited because it’s Mike Tyson, so it’s like in most cases you will say, ‘Yes, I got a big fight on the road coming, but this time I was like you better get in a little shape because you are going in there with Mike Tyson.”

He added, “You don’t know what Mike Tyson might come in there with, dude you don’t know if you got to protect your ears, your chin, your jaw, you don’t know what he might do. So, you better do is get in shape and prepare for whichever Mike shows up.”

Thus, he cannot see it just as an exhibition fight. Also, Roy Jones has a valid point. Talking about it, he said. “It’s an exhibition, but we got 12 oz gloves, it’s exhibition but no headgear, exhibition? Judges… and exhibition? Mike Tyson, who knocked Corey Sanders down in the first round of an exhibition back in 2004. Because going in the ring with Mike Tyson has nothing exhibitionish about it.”

The eight-round battle will happen on November 28 in Los Angeles, and it will be live streamed on Triller.
