Roy Jones Jr. was initially vexed when Mike Tyson and his team shifted the date of their proposed exhibition fight from September 12 to November 28.

However, the shift in the date can be a blessing in disguise for both contenders. At least that’s what UFC commentator Joe Rogan believes. Breaking a hiatus of 15 years and two years respectively, Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. will face each other in an eight-round battle.

Thus, both boxers needed some time to get back on track. Also, they have hit their dotage and don’t possess the similar physical advantages that they enjoyed in their prime.

So a shift in date was actually beneficial for the former world champions.

Joe Rogan discusses the fight between Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr.

In his recent podcast, Rogan said that advertising and promotion was a huge factor for shifting the date from September 12 to November 28. If not for the change, the event could have missed the massive attention it is receiving right now.

While specifying the advantages, Rogan said, “I like the fact that they didn’t decide to do it on September 12, so it already would have happened. They decided to extend it deep into November, giving everybody a chance to like really train and ramp up the promotion and let everybody know, and it’s more and more exciting every day.”

While ‘Captain Hook’ is getting ready for some intense heavyweight action, he will reveal a lot of insight into his camp. Rogan has also revealed that Roy Jones Jr. will come in as a guest in one of the future episodes. Although he didn’t specify the date, the podcast might happen before Jones’ fight with Tyson.

“Roy Jones Jr. was posting some s*** on his Instagram. Dude, he has still got some hand speed. See if you can find that… and he is coming in here soon,” said Rogan.

While Tyson has already appeared on JRE, it’s time for ‘Captain Hook’ to talk about his chalked up plans. However, the main-action will only be staged when the former world champions lock horns against each other on November 28 in Los Angeles, California.
