In just over a month, Andy Ruiz Jr. will return to the ring, and that too against Jarrell Miller! In the meantime, a training clip of the ‘Destroyer’ seems to have given rise to quite the commotion among fans. The California resident has been rather inactive in the boxing scene, as his upcoming bout will be his first in two years.

Ruiz last fought Luis Ortiz in September 2022, securing a unanimous decision victory. This fight came three years after his notable rematch loss to Anthony Joshua. In the interim, he also fought Chris Arreola in May 2021. However, after the Joshua loss, he was never the same, so as he prepares to make a comeback on 3rd August at BMO Stadium, Los Angeles, fans have high hopes for him.

Andy Ruiz: The last chance!

Earlier today, Boxing Kingdom hopped on X to write, “Andy Ruiz looking powerful & lean, ahead of his return to the ring on the 3rd of August”. They also shared a clip of Ruiz Jr. diligently training for his upcoming bout, which is a part of the Riyadh Season card headlining Terence Crawford vs. Israel Madrimov.

If you think about it, this fight will be Ruiz’s final chance to reignite his dying boxing career. He has previously stated that a rubber match against Joshua is his main goal, but a loss against Miller could see his goal face into nothing. So, the former unified heavyweight champion needs to do everything in his power to secure this win. But the question is, what do the fans say?

Ruiz asked to fight Deontay Wilder

Despite the inactivity and the potential ring rust Andy Ruiz Jr. has built up in the last two years, people haven’t completely given up on the 34-year-old boxer. One user seemed eager to see what Ruiz Jr. will do against Miller come fight night. There’s no denying Ruiz is talented, but given his long layoff and a history of lethargy, things look difficult for the heavyweight.

Meanwhile, this user seemed hopeful, as he used a metaphor to explain Ruiz’s potential. However, ‘Big Baby’ Miller is no joke—he is coming off a loss to Daniel Dubois and must be eager to bounce back with a win.

Another user reacted to the caption from Boxing Kingdom, claiming Ruiz does look powerful, but lean—absolutely not! However, compared to before, Ruiz has indeed lost some weight.

Someone else is expecting even bigger fights from Andy Ruiz Jr., suggesting the ‘Destroyer’ needs to square off against Deontay Wilder and get the third fight against Anthony Joshua. Interestingly, he could have gotten a fight against Deontay Wilder, but because of his demand for more money, the fight never happened.

The next user revealed he used to think Ruiz is a great boxer, but after the second Joshua fight, he learned it was all but an illusion. Despite this, Ruiz has the potential to do big things, and Ruiz will have to prove it in the upcoming fight.

Despite his long layoff, these comments suggest the community is still ready to embrace Andy Ruiz Jr. as a great boxer, but he has a tough night ahead of him. Will Ruiz’s ring rust prove too much to overcome? Or will he defy all the odds? Let us know in the comments!
