WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney has responded to Ryan Garcia’s call-out. The champion has left the door open for a potential fight against his compatriot. He also gave his immediate reaction to the knockout.

Garcia beat Luke Campbell with a seventh-round knockout. He then went on to give a fiery post-fight interview. In the interview, Garcia expressed his desire to fight Gervonta Davis, but also welcomed a fight against Devin Haney.

Speaking to ESNEWS after the fight, Haney said, “Ryan don’t make no shots though. Ryan don’t make no shots. He said I might be next but… He’s my mandatory now so…” With his victory, Garcia became the WBC interim champion and is next in line to fight the champion.

Haney spoke about their potential match-up and gave an insight as to what to expect. He said, “Fireworks. It’s a huge fight, lot of fans want to see it, I hope that happens.” The two fighters have a history in the amateurs as well, and it promises to be a fantastic fight should it happen.

Devin Haney says Ryan Garcia showed that he’s a warrior.

‘The Dream’ also spoke about the fight and said, “He showed that he had grit, he showed that he was a warrior, He’s not coming here just to lay down, you know. You may hit him with a good shot, knock him down but, you got to knock him out.”

Clearly, Haney respects Garcia as a fighter. Although Garcia said he wants Davis next, Haney is in no hurry. If not for Garcia, he has other plans. He said, “Well, I got two mandatories. I’ve got Ryan Garcia and I’ve got Javier Fortuna. So…I’ll see.”

Therefore, this makes the lightweight division one of the most exciting in the sport right now. All the young prospects have won their respective fights and seem to be on course to fight each other. It is only a matter of time till we see some of the best fights in the division.
