Once trained under Floyd Mayweather, Devin Haney inherited his legendary defensive boxing style. However, Ryan Garcia has accused ‘The Dream’ Haney of inheriting something else from the former five-division champion.

Garcia and Haney, the career rivals, will go toe-to-toe with each other on April 20 at Barclays Centre in Brooklyn, New York. The DAZN headliner will have Haney’s WBC super lightweight title on the line. However, as fight night draws closer, Garcia accuses Haney of being illiterate on social media, just like popular rapper 50 Cent once accused former BFF Floyd Mayweather, challenging him for a $750,000 bet.

Floyd Mayweather politely declined ‘Fiddy’s’ offer

Turning to X, Ryan Garcia shared a promotional clip of Haney, who asked fans to watch the upcoming fight at the nearest Dave and Buster’s. However, what Garcia saw was Haney being unable to read the lines given to him from the teleprompter. The scene was eerily similar to the 50 Cent situation back in 2012, after Mayweather came out of prison.

The ‘In Da Club’ rapper, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson III, claimed Mayweather owed him money, so after Mayweather’s release, ‘Fiddy’ took their feud online. Interestingly, this was the time in the matrix when the ‘Ice Bucket Challenge’ was sweeping the world. From celebrities to athletes, everyone was calling out each other to help raise awareness for Lou Gehrig’s disease.

So, 50, being the hilarious troll that he is, saw this as an opportunity to throw shade at his former friend. The ‘Candy Shop’ rapper roped in Mayweather, asking him to pour over the book people have come to love, ‘Harry Potter.’ In addition, he put forth a condition: If the five-division champion accepted the challenge, which was an obvious mockery, ‘Fiddy’ would donate a whopping $750,000 to any charity Mayweather supports. However, Mayweather politely declined the offer during a press conference for the Marcos Maidana fight.

Even still, the rapper didn’t let go! Jimmy Kimmel had offered to host the reading on his show, so to add insult to injury, ‘Fiddy’ suggested an alternative to the boy wizard. He asked Mayweather to read ‘Cat in the Hat’ to make things easier. What’s more, this still wasn’t the end of their cat-and-mouse act!

50 Cent takes not-so-subtle jab at Mayweather during book release

Just last month, the American rapper released his heist novel, ‘The Accomplice.’ However, he couldn’t resist throwing a literary jab at Floyd Mayweather during his literary endeavor. While announcing the release, ‘Fiddy’ decided to also reveal the audio book version of the book. The reason being, it would be easier for Mayweather to enjoy the book.

In an Instagram post, ‘Fiddy’ wrote, “I have no beef with anyone, I even made sure the audiobook comes out at the same time so champ won’t feel left out,” as a smirk could practically be felt through the post. Interestingly, their age-old rivalry continues to age like fine wine, and from the looks of things, it will continue to evolve in the coming years.

As Ryan Garcia prepares to fight Devin Haney, it seems like he has taken a page out of 50 Cent’s book to troll Haney. However, he might have to eat his words if he fails to beat Haney come fight night.
