Former WBC interim lightweight champion Ryan Garcia returned after a 1-year hiatus to face Emmanuel Tagoe at the Alamodome. The hiatus seems to have had no change in the champ’s performance, with Garcia securing his 22nd win. However, many fans took to social media to show their disappointment about the lack of showmanship in the fight.

This was the first time that Garcia went 12 rounds in his career. Judges Ellis Johnson and Tom Carusone scored the fight 119-110. Judge Lisa Giampa scored it at 118-109.
This led to Garcia winning the bout by unanimous decision.
